About Sandy & Company
My name is Sandy Harris, I've been married to my husband Doug for 17 years. We have 2 amazing girls, Brittany 14 and Hannah 6. We live in Canby, which is a small town south of Portland, in beautiful Oregon. I've been a crafting gal as long as I can remember. Baking (I've been told I make fabulous brownies), tole painting on wood and glass, puffy painting on my kids clothes, and I decided I was ready for something different. My friend Robyn introduced me to the world of beading. I've been beading since spring 2004. My best friend Jody and co-workers Kristie (huge inspiration) Carol (priceless), Michele (wonderful) and my friend Susan (fabulous) with their willingness to help and inspire me, were all eager to provide ideas, design my business cards, make my decorative bags for my bracelets, hand write my earring cards, and yes, wear some of my early creations (looking back, they were creations..) My beading business evolved and Sandy and Co. just fit so naturally.
The best thing about my beading was I was able to bead at work. I’d set up shop at my desk during my breaks and lunches without the distractions of home. The minutes I finished one of my bracelets it would sell immediately, usually by my friends Mary and Marilyn, my 2 best customers, and because of their purchasing dedication, I've name bracelets after them. It was exciting to have people want to buy what I made. So after about a year of selling to friends, strangers, co-workers and local businesses, and being asked if I had a website, my co-worker Heather suggested to have her brother Trent design my site. I just want to share my favorite and most popular designs with everyone, everywhere.
All of my designs are inspired by people I know. My daughter Brittany is one of my best sales girls and Hannah has also played a big role in my beading. She is always eager to help and after beading 3 or 4 on a string (being very frustrated) she'd tell me she was "done" and be very proud of it (and want me to sell it...) She is also an expert at retrieving the beads that have fallen on the floor. I love my Hannah.
I've been up late and up early beading with Jody, while we’ve laughed and cried, which has brought us that much closer together. Beading has also worked as a great dieting program, you can’t eat and bead at the same time.
This has been an amazing journey. I love creating my jewelry, its fun, rewarding and very therapeutic. I hope you enjoy your purchase as much as I've enjoyed putting it together. My friends are telling me I am getting in over my head, while still working my full-time day job, we'll have to see, let’s prove them wrong.
Sincerely
Sandy
